Sunday hike

One of my New Year's resolutions was to get out and hike more on the weekends. While this was in part inspired my a hike we went on while in Oregon and partly inspired by seeing Wild, the main reason is that there is that the Bay Area is surrounded by wonderful national and state parks and trails. On Saturday two girlfriends agreed to join me for a hike on Lands End trail.

Napa Market

We had friends in town last weekend and headed up to Napa for some wine tasting. In an effort to be better about not always being on my phone I only took one building picture the whole weekend, which is below. I love the red building with the classic white lettering.

Smile!

This statue is right outside the Gap Inc building- I only noticed it as I was trying to cut through their parking structure to get to the YMCA faster. I love it for a couple of reasons. First, in the current day and age of iphone photos (and the SF tech bubble) I love that this statue has an someone trying to take a photo with a real camera. Second, I think that it perfectly captures that same motion we have all done when trying to take a photo while ensuring that someone doesn't step in. And third, the statue is in a normally extremely busy area of SF where most people keep their heads down and hustle to work. I like that it reminds us all to slow down just a little bit.

Bike Rack

While walking past one of the many bike racks all over San Francisco I looked down and realized that there was a little smiling face right below it. Nothing better than something smiling up at you as you park your bike!

SF Graffiti

I always see this graffiti mural on my way to the YMCA where I teach a group fitness class. I love this brightly colored mural, and today the stars aligned: I was stopped at a red light, there was no one next to me, and I was able to snap a photo quickly.
